Optimising Care Home Medication Management With Monitored Dosage Systems
At Venalink, we recognise the pivotal role pharmacists play as part of a multidisciplinary team that significantly enhances the health and well-being of residents in care homes or nursing homes. Our monitored dosage systems (MDS) provide a comprehensive solution that not only elevates medication administration but also fosters better treatment adherence among older adults.
In light of recent events, particularly the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of medication adherence has become increasingly evident. Given that 66% of care home patients take more than seven medications a day, it highlights the critical need for streamlined medication management.
At Venalink, we offer a variety of MDS formats specifically tailored to meet the unique needs of each resident. For instance, our larger capacity formats are designed to hold up to 10-15 medications per blister cavity for each medication dose or time pass, ensuring effective medication management.
Our systems offer ample space for clear labelling, which facilitates patient identification and treatment record-keeping. By organising every medication by dosage and day, we create a visually intuitive format that simplifies the administration process.
Our FlexRx™ format simplifies medication management by allowing users to easily detach blister cavities, creating portable medication doses that also serve as medication cups. With this design, each perforated cavity can be easily removed while still retaining important medication information on its label.
Venalink MDS formats are compatible with semi-automation and automation technologies, enabling pharmacies to optimise the preparation process, while simultaneously improving accuracy and enhancing efficiency.
Venalink MDS offers a holistic overview of the patient’s medication schedule throughout the week, which in turn helps remind caregivers and reduces the risk of missed or incorrectly administered doses.
Managing medication changes becomes effortless with our repair patches for Venalink MDS. By using these repair patches, we simplify and expedite the correction process, ensuring seamless transitions in residents’ treatment plans.
Medication trolleys provide an ideal solution for transporting and storing MDS systems, as well as medications not included in blister packs. Equipped with lightweight and high-quality materials, they ensure easy transport and effortless cleaning.
To accommodate various needs, we offer several formats with capacities ranging from 42 to 108 MDSs.
