Sustainability: Why Qube Pro Leads The Way

Sustainability: Why Qube Pro Leads The Way

In today’s healthcare landscape, packaging must support not only safety and compliance, but also sustainability. That’s why Qube Pro was designed with both patients and the planet in mind, delivering measurable environmental benefits through thoughtful innovation.

At Venalink, we believe that packaging can – and should – do more than just protect medication. It should also protect our planet. That’s why Qube Pro is leading the way as a sustainable, patient-centered monitored dosage solution that delivers real-world impact.

Circular Design for a Healthier Future

As part of a global healthcare group, our products are developed with circular design principles at their core. This means we prioritise eco-conscious materials, responsible sourcing, and a reduced environmental footprint, without compromising the high standards required for healthcare packaging. The idea is simple: better for the planet, better for patients.

Qube Pro: The Facts

  1. Foil-Free: Qube Pro eliminates foil entirely, making recycling easier and improving the overall circularity of the product. Reduces waste, improves recyclability.
  1. Smaller Footprint: Qube Pro is 11.5% smaller and uses 1/3 less material in its cover and seal compared to Qube, while maintaining the same high-capacity blister cavities.
  1. Lighter: Qube Pro is 31% lighter than Qube. A lighter product isn’t just easier to handle, it’s more efficient to ship. Lighter packaging allows for lower fuel consumption during transportation, reducing carbon emissions.
  1. Reduced environmental impact: Qube Pro uses 46% less fossil fuel and produces 60% fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
  1. Recycled PET (rPET): The blister element of Qube Pro is made from recycled PET (rPET), a material that gives post-consumer plastic waste a second life. It’s strong, safe for medical use, and fully recyclable, helping to close the loop on plastic usage in packaging.
  1. Produced at a Zero-to-Landfill Facility: Qube Pro’s paper cover is produced by our partners at Medi-Clear, a “Zero 2 Landfill” facility where 100% of production waste is diverted from landfill, an example of operational sustainability in action.

Industry Leadership in Global Sustainability

Embracing innovation, as part of Jones Healthcare Group, we use EcoImpact-COMPASS® lifecycle assessment technology to evaluate our packaging solutions. We evaluate every stage of packaging with data-driven metrics on:

  • Emissions
  • Water use
  • Fossil fuels
  • Circularity
  • Human Impact

This data allows us to continuously improve and design smarter, greener packaging.

A Vision for 2025 and Beyond

We’ve already introduced blister packaging with recycled content into our line-up, an important step on our path to more sustainable healthcare solutions. But we’re not stopping there. As part of this commitment, a pilot project is already underway to test the world’s first fully recyclable blister pack – Qube Eco. This initiative builds on the sustainability foundation of Qube Pro and aims to bring a fully recyclable solution to market by the end of 2025.

Qube Pro is more than packaging; it’s part of a sustainable healthcare future. Through innovation, collaboration, and a relentless focus on environmental impact, Qube Pro is leading the transformation of medication packaging for a healthier planet and future.

Together, we can reshape medication packaging – starting today.
